Performance Camp 2019:

James and the Giant Peach the Musical

Written by Timothy Allen McDonald
Book and Lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
At the Conant Center for the Performing Arts on the Oglethorpe University Campus
Rising grades 3-12

Georgia Ensemble Theater: Annie Jr.

Performance Camp is strictly reserved for experienced students who have completed the GET Ultimate Acting Bootcamp, Triple Threat or a previous GET school year class. Due to the popularity of Performance Camp, no exceptions to this rule will be made. Discounts are available to families who would like to pair another camp with Performance Camp. Please call for more information. Camp size is limited. Traditionally this camp goes on a waiting list by early spring.

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score by Pasek and Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Shrek the Musical JrUnder the direction of senior GET Faculty, students will experience the entire production process from audition through performance in just two weeks. In addition to rehearsing and performing, students will build costumes and sets, hang lights and work on all technical aspects of the show, including strike after the final performance. Performance camp culminates in two days of public performances on July 26 & 27, 2019 (2pm and 7pm).
