GET at Act3 Playhouse Studio
Georgia Ensemble Theatre has moved into the Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs! We are delighted to expand the reach of Georgia Ensemble Theatre into the Sandy Springs area, bringing more GET performances back to North Fulton County and concentrating our operations. Our performances, classes, and administrative operations will have their home base at the Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs Plaza.
The Act3 Playhouse location offers several exciting features for our audiences! There is plenty of parking, always free. It’s on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, a mile north of I-285, or only about 2 miles from GA-400. (That’s a 19-minute ride from downtown Roswell, and even easier to reach for our many patrons who live in East Cobb or Dunwoody/Sandy Springs.) The 100-seat theatre has great sightlines, a nearly-new lighting & sound package, and amazing air conditioning. Within walking distance are a dozen tempting restaurants and bakeries, not to mention fun shops and the green space of City Springs Lawn. Seating will be limited compared to our larger heritage spaces, but there’s twice as much room as the Studio! Our costs to produce in this space will be lower, which will support the smaller audience size and allow us some breathing room as we rebuild.
All seating at the playhouse will be general admission, so we will not structure season tickets the way we have in the past. All subscriptions will move to a Flex Pass format for the coming year. (If you held over your season tickets from 2023-24, we’ll be in touch with you about how to use them!) Our staff and board are taking this time to work on careful strategic planning for the future, too.
The Act3 Playhouse location is at 6285-R Roswell Rd NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, on the back of the Sandy Springs Plaza shopping center behind Henri’s Bakery, Five Guys Burgers, and Trader Joe’s. Our phone number, website, and email addresses remain the same, as does our mailing address of PO Box 607, Roswell, GA 30077.
The 2023-24 season was full of changes and challenges at GET. We lost our performance space, found another, partnered with other organizations, celebrated our co-founder's retirement (read the article here), welcomed our Interim Artistic Director, added new programs, met new audiences, and more! In 2021, we lost our office & classroom space in downtown Roswell and moved to a location in north Roswell. We spent three years building that location (“GET Studio”) into a thriving educational facility and a small performance space for intimate shows. Then in 2023, we lost our large performance space in Roswell and turned to a similarly-sized facility in Marietta. Over the past year, we learned that many of our patrons weren't willing to try the new location, and we discovered that the cost of producing in Marietta was higher than the revenue it generated, so we reduced that programming and focused on our educational and small-show programs in north Roswell. In 2024, the rent for our north Roswell studio rose to a level we couldn't afford, so we began a search for a better long-term home. We're happy to connect with Act3 Productions, a local small theatre, to bring GET back to Roswell Road. Their existing theatre space offers GET an opportunity to settle in for a while and focus on rebuilding our audiences and our finances. We are embracing change and remain committed to our mission of creating connection between artists and audiences of all ages.
We'll continue to send out updates over the next several weeks, but you're always welcome to email us at boxofficestaff@nullget.org or education@nullget.org if you have questions.
