And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank

By James Still
Directed by Mary Saville

And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank recounts the story of two childhood friends of Anne Frank and their experiences of hiding, capture and imprisonment during the Holocaust. You'll see video interviews with the survivors, while professional actors portray them on stage. Part oral history, part dramatic interpretation, this powerful multi-media performance has been produced annually at GET since 1997. The hour-long performance will open your heart with curiosity and compassion. This is what live theatre does especially well--moving a big idea like the Holocaust into the realm of personal understanding and connection. Get an inside look at what it was like to live through this significant period of history. After every performance, the artists host a short Q&A to talk about the historical events and the process of creating the production.

Touring performances available MARCH 2-APRIL 3, 2026 (Recommended for 5th grade and up.)
$950/performance (discounts available)

MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL     $150/CLASS

THE GREAT GATSBY
ROMEO & JULIET

THE GIVER

The Living Study Guide is a fresh perspective on classic literature texts - currently offering Romeo & Juliet and The Great Gatsby. The Living Study Guide encourages students to engage in the world of the text through drama and writing. Because the workshop activities have students on their feet, embodying characters or objects in the story, they develop a different sense of connection than reading alone provides. English teachers who bring The Living Study Guide into their classroom will be able to provide their students with a fresh, interactive way to engage with and make sense of these classic texts. Teaching artists will discuss the themes within these stories and whether or not they are still relevant in the today’s society and worldviews. Want a different book? Email us with an inquiry about customizing a workshop for your curriculum!
